SG (which stands for Schadstoff Geprüft or “tested for harmful substances”) is the label that has been marking materials since the beginning of the 1990s which have been subjected to stringent laboratory tests and can be assumed to have no negative impact on health according to the knowledge available today. The SG catalogue of requirements is regularly revised and updated by test institutes to take into account the newest scientific and research findings.
We are the only manufacturer to have already had our EVA materials successfully tested in line with the latest version 05/2011. This means that the nora® Luna product range, including the composite sheeting, has been certified in compliance with the most up-to-date requirements and had to fulfil several new criteria during the course of these tests. Now, for instance, EVA materials are tested to establish whether they can be proved to contain the solvent residues acetophenone and 2-phenyl-2-propanol. Also updated is the limiting parameter for lead, which has now been downgraded. The limit for formaldehyde in materials with no direct skin contact has likewise been lowered. The substances triphenyltin and dioctyl tin named in EU directive 2009/425/EU have been added to cover organic tin compounds, and the limits for the PAH content differentiate between the PAH content listed by the EPA and that named by the EU.
Please heed for your own assurance: A one-off testing of materials or single batches and an accompanying test report do not entitle products to carry the SG label. Differentiate between one-off testing of a material or sample and the permanent certification of produced materials. Request a certificate for your own assurance. nora® EVA Materials bearing the SG label are regularly controlled in random tests by PFI Pirmasens, Germany, for the protection of the manufacturer and patient.
