As specifically soft and bedding cushion sheet nora® Lunairmed has been one of the most important grades of the nora® EVA product range for decades. In times where the hygiene issue is becoming more and more important, we equipped nora® Lunairmed with a plus. With the development of nora® Lunairmed plus, we succeeded in producing the proven material with antimicrobial properties by using substances with ionising effect.

How does the antimicrobial effect work?

While antibacterial agents exclusively combat bacteria, antimicrobial substances act on a large number of different micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.

nora®  Lunairmed plus is equipped with organometallic substances which constantly form active ions attacking the metabolic system of bacteria, fungi and viruses and thus eliminating them. The ionising substances are firmly anchored in the substrate through their size and structure. They are bigger than e.g. nanoparticles and cannot escape from the material. Thus, the effect is maintained for years. Last but not least, this is also of special importance for health and the environment.

The advantages of nora® Lunairmed plus are quite obvious:

The closed cell structure prevents ichor and sweat and thus germs, bacteria and fungi from penetrating the material. In principal, ichor adhering to the surface can be hygienically removed with commercially available disinfectants from all closed-cell nora® EVA materials.

The antimicrobial effect of nora® Lunairmed plus also prevents biofilms from being created on the surface and bacteria, fungi or other micro-organisms from multiplying on the material surface. The combination of regular cleaning of the surface and active antimicrobial substances allows a maximum degree of hygiene.
